For Project Six, we make these awesome, easy candles and wrap them up to give. They look pretty, smell good and cost so little you won't believe it!
Here's what you'll need to complete this project:
- Votive or Tea light Holders (2)
- Essential Oil (We used Lavender)
- Wax Tartlets (Scented or Unscented)
- Medium-sized Pot
- Clean, recycled metal can
- Potholder & Tongs
First, fill pot about half full with water and place the can in the pot.
To make our wicks, we recycle metal bases from used tea light candles
and thread string through the hole.
When the wax is melted, add essential oil to your personal taste.
We used 6 drops of lavender oil in vanilla tartlets.
Once our wicks are in place, we poured the wax into 2 votive holders.
Hold your wick in place momentarily until it starts to stand on its own.
Then drape the wicks over the side of the candle holder until the wax has cooled.
Once the candle is set, trim the wick.
Here is our finished product. At the top of the post, you'll see the tea light version.
We adorned the bag with ribbon, scrapbooking word tag and a pretty
picture from an old greeting card. Voila- ready to give and receive!
Here's a breakdown of what we spent:
- 2 Votive Candle holders - $2 (Dollar Tree)
- 4 vanilla tartlets - $1 (Dollar Tree)
- 2 brown bags - $.13 each (Target clearance - 16/$2.08)
- String- free (on hand)
- Recycled tea light wick base -free
- Recycled can- free
- Tongs - free (old ones on hand- $1@ Dollar Tree)
